There was a time when getting "fancy" was a complex and enjoyable task.  Deciding which cute new outfit to wear.  What perfume was appropriate for the season, occasion, and current mood.  Shoes, bags, hair, accessories...GLAMOUR!  Then came baby.  Now I'm lucky to fit the basics in.

The Basics

1. Shower.  This should probably involve those other SH words: Shaving and Shampooing.

2. Hair.  A dollop of product and blow-dry upside down.

3. Nails.  Naked is better than chipped.  Short is better than jagged.

4.  Smell good (but not too good).  Deodorant, yes!  Easy does it on the perfume.  I think I've forgotten how to apply sparingly.  If I actually remember to spray perfume I get so excited I end up gagging over my own smell in the car.

5. Clean clothes.  This is one is always a challenge now.  Even if they are clean they may have been sitting in the dryer for a few days so they don't look clean.  Don't even try to iron those wrinkles out!  Use a steamer (or steam up the bathroom if you don't have a steamer).

6. Finishing touches.  Mascara.  Lip gloss.  Wedding Ring.

Bam! Ready!

Beyond The Basics

Anything beyond these six basic steps...LUXURY!  Also, it probably means my son was napping all afternoon and I didn't get anything else done besides getting presentable.

Polished nails? Luxury!

Curled hair?  Luxury!

Small clutch?  What?

I might as well dance out of the house singing, "Nails done! Hair done! Everything did!  Oh you fancy, huh?"
Do you relate???  Do you have more basic steps in your 'fancy' routine?  I'd love to hear about them.

Oh, gosh. uhm. Nothing fancy about me. I do like it when my legs are hairless, that's about as *fancy* as it gets. hah.
No, honestly, I like to let my hair down and wear clothing that fits me, instead of hanging off me, love it when my eyebrows are done and my skin has seen the sun :)
